Mouthwash Hacks?
As a former consultant, I got used to 80-hour work weeks, two or more flights per week, and the joy of waking up, not knowing the city in which I was located.
Weeks of anonymous hotels, last-minute flights, restaurant meals, and sometimes, unexpected delays. The only thing that seems constant is the complimentary mouthwash, shampoo, soap, and if you’re lucky, coffee, at the hotel.
Here are some creative uses I’ve found, to use mouthwash to make your life easier, when you end up overnight without an overnight bag.
Hacks
Mouthwash
Sounds simple, but you can use mouthwash as mouthwash.
Mid-day Breath Freshener
Instead of breath mints, swish some tonic.
Toothpaste
Yep. It works. Pour some mouthwash on your “complimentary” toothbrush, usually available at the hotel desk.
Deoderant / Cologne
Lacking the PROPER toiletries, slapping some mouthwash in the important areas keeps things fresh all day. It helps to water the mouthwash down to about 50%
Shoe Freshener
There’s nothing like wearing the same set of socks for 3 days. Even if you wash them in the sink, adding a few drops of mouthwash in your shoes can give you a minty-fresh step.
Hand Sanitizer
Mouthwash contains alcohol, which is a powerful anti-bacterial / anti-viral agent.
Detergent
Washing your unmentionables in the hotel room sink leaves a lot to be desired. Adding a few drops of mouthwash gives them a minty freshness. You can dry almost any garment by laying it on top of the air conditioner, set to full throttle, slightly warm air.
Window Cleaner
Mouthwash works well to clean mirrors, surfaces, or windows. Grab a lump of hand towels, and go forth.
Anti-Fog
Wipe your mirror or the inside of your windshield with mouthwash to prevent fogging
