STOP WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE AND GWX<\/h1>\n

You can add these two registry settings to your Windows 7\/8 machines, to STOP the “Get Windows 10” (GWX) upgrade prompts.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Create an empty text file on your desktop, called “DisableWindowsUpgrade”<\/li>\n
  2. Open the empty file<\/li>\n
  3. Copy the text in the box below, to the empty file, and save it\n
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00\r\n\r\n[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\WindowsUpdate]\r\n\"DisableOSUpgrade\"=dword:00000001\r\n\r\n[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Gwx]\r\n\"DisableGwx\"=dword:00000001<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
  4. Rename the file extension from “.txt” to “.reg”.\u00a0 Usually, you can do this in file properties.<\/li>\n
  5. Double-click the file, and click “YES” when prompted to make changes.<\/li>\n
  6. Reboot.<\/li>\n
  7. Enjoy your Upgrade-Free existence!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I created a batch file that creates the reg file, then runs regedit, to import these keys in to the registry.<\/p>\n
