Complete Crap<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nWe spoke to the rep, and asked for a single malt.\u00a0 We were told that they don’t offer a “single malt”<\/p>\n
[Edit:\u00a0 Irish whiskeys are referred to as “single grain”, if they are not blended.\u00a0 Scotch whiskeys are “single malt” if they are not blended]<\/p>\n
I asked the rep which one SHE prefers, and she said, she didn’t have a preference.\u00a0 So, she’s selling the product, but she’s not familiar with the product??<\/p>\n
Our group had an experienced whiskey drinker, a semi-experienced drinker, and a novice Scotch \/ Irish whiskey drinker.\u00a0 All three of us agreed that Tullamore Dew was the worst at the venue.\u00a0 Even the “12 year” sucked (how can you have an “aged blended” whiskey??)<\/p>\n
They had a “corner lounge” within the event, and had a photograph event, where they attempted to pack as many people in to the lounge as possible, then photograph it.<\/p>\n
Did we get a free shot, or some other recognition?\u00a0 A coupon?\u00a0 NO.\u00a0 We got “thanks!\u00a0 Get out!”<\/p>\n
They don’t know whiskey, they don’t know how to treat their customers, and they don’t seem to care.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
<\/span>2 Gingers<\/span><\/h2>\nThis was a surprise!<\/p>\n
A young whiskey, it had a very peaty taste, but very complex flavors for such a young whiskey.\u00a0 I expect to see good things from them, as their reserve stock ages\u00a0\u00a0 ;-)<\/p>\n
I DO RECOMMEND!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
<\/span>Jameson<\/span><\/h2>\nJameson is my de-facto favorite.<\/p>\n
I have been wanting to try the Jameson Black Barrel, and they had the “regular” and Black Barrel varieties, so I tried the Black Barrel variety.<\/p>\n
I love Jameson, but unfortunately, “Black Barrel” is just another cheap attempt to charge more money for a maple or caramel-infused version of the “regular” version, referred to as “dark”, “black”, or “select”<\/p>\n
Jameson Black Barrel was absolutely nothing special.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nHOWEVER, Jameson (regular) is my favorite Irish whiskey, hands down!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
<\/span>Powers<\/span><\/h2>\nPowers is excellent.<\/p>\n
I had not heard of Powers until a few weeks ago.\u00a0 The rep shared that she had not heard of Powers until a couple of days ago, but that she DOES know whiskey, and, being an experienced whiskey drinker, she was impressed!\u00a0 (So was I!)<\/p>\n
I had the Powers Gold Reserve, and I DO RECOMMEND!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nAs much as I hate to admit it, Powers has a more rounded flavor profile than Jameson!<\/p>\n

<\/span>Bonn Oir (Vodka)<\/span><\/h2>\nThe label says “1916”, but I’ve never heard of it.<\/p>\n
Tasting for the first time, it’s obviously a grain vodka.\u00a0 The rep said “white grain”.<\/p>\n
I suggested a vanilla flavor profile, to which the rep responded that a lot of people had been identifying flavors that are not in the product, suggesting that perhaps whiskey on the pallet was carrying over.\u00a0 I know better.\u00a0 As I continued, the “vanilla” flavor mellowed to a cane sugar taste.<\/p>\n
They denied it, but….<\/p>\n
I’m very interested in this “Irish vodka”.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Sweet, grainy flavor profile.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
<\/span>Summary<\/span><\/h2>\nDon’t waste your time with Tullamore Dew.\u00a0 Apparently, they are a “big name” in Irish whiskey, but they suck.<\/p>\n
Powers is the best overall!\u00a0 A little more expensive than Jameson, the flavor profile is more complex.<\/p>\n
2 Gingers is definitely up-and-coming.\u00a0 Well worth a taste!<\/p>\n
Jameson is still my favorite, but don’t waste the extra money on the “black barrel” variety.<\/p>\n
